A Bit About Me
By exposing myself to different forms of art, I learned that I really enjoy designing and the printing process. It was the work of punk artists in the 70’s and the way designers used images to portray the feelings and emotions of an album or movie poster that made me want to become a graphic designer. The work of the Bauhaus and the campy approach to art that John Waters had also had a tremendous effect on my style.
My art style is something that blossomed overtime. I first started out just throwing anything I liked onto a page and hoping it made sense. I then made sure color was in the forefront of my designs and was unapologetic about it. Now I have a better understanding of what I enjoy and what aesthetics mean the most to me. I hope that my designs will now have a clearer voice and remind people that art is supposed to be expressive and showcase the creativity of human beings.
The artistic process for me usually starts with imagery or even music that pops into my head while I am given a prompt. I like to think of designs as puzzles with missing pieces and having it be my job to fill in those blanks. If I ever run into a roadblock while designing, I like to step back and either listen to music that reminds me of the piece or look at pieces of past work to get an idea that will help me move forward. When I finally get all the pieces of my work together, I create something that I know I’ll be proud of.
